Dr Lepani Waqatakirewa

Dr. Lepani Waqatakirewa started his professional career as a medical practitioner is rural health centres and hospitals in Fiji. Later joined national health administration for public health services and programmes before serving as Chief Executive Officer and Permanent Secretary for Health in Fiji.

He has been involved in the recent past with WHO Technical Advisory Groups on Health System Strengthening and Traditional Medicines. Contributions to the Pacific Islands region have been through technical assistance in the areas of maternal and child health, reproductive health programmes, NCD risk factors control and most recently, health policies, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation.

Currently President of the Public Health Association of Fiji, he also holds a PhD in Public Health from Walden University (US).
