Biography

Andreea Badache is a public health professional and epidemiologist with expertise in data-driven research, policy analysis, and global health initiatives. During her PhD in Medical Sciences from Örebro University, she specialized in disability, ageing, and epidemiology. Additionally, she holds an MSc in Rehabilitation Sciences from KU Leuven, Belgium, and an MSc in Healthcare Policy, Innovation, and Management from Maastricht University, the Netherlands.

Andreea has previously worked as a consultant for the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), as well as a researcher in Sweden and Romania and visiting researcher at Tokyo University and National Institute of Public Health in Mexico. She has contributed to various research projects on non-communicable diseases, social determinants of health, risk factors, sensory impairments, health systems, epidemiology, and ageing, focusing on systematic reviews and meta-analyses, epidemiological research, health policy development, and health systems strengthening. 

Starting in February 2025, Andreea will join the WHO Centre for Health Development in Kobe, Japan, where she will work on an umbrella review of published evaluations of strategies to improve recruitment, retention, working conditions, and skills among the long-term care workforce.
