Disaster Risk Literacy and Addressing the Needs of Subpopulations
Many lives can be saved immediately after an emergency through effective local response. Appropriate policies and programmes for disaster risks in communities enable people to reduce or cope with potential risks from various hazards and minimize negative impacts.
In 2018, the expert meeting of the WHO Health Emergency and Disaster Risk Management Research Network (Health EDRM RM) identified research and evidence gaps in communitydisaster risk management (DRM),and prioritized the needs of subpopulations and disaster vulnerability in communities.
