Workforce Development for Health EDRM
Workforce training and competency development activities teach people essential skills and competencies and share up-to-date knowledge and evidence for providing care and services to manage health challenges during emergencies. The WHO Knowledge Hub for Workforce Development for Health EDRM introduces currently available training activities and competency development.
A WKC research project (2019-2021) identified many training courses for capacity development. Those courses usually target specific jobs.
Health workers
WHO Human Resources for Health Leadership and Management
A six-module course that provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of human resources for health (HRH) policy and management. It includes effective leadership and governance of HRH, development and use of HRH data and human resources information systems, leadership in education and training, and research skills required to support leadership decisions.

Qualified health workers with skills matched to people’s needs are crucial to bridging this gap. WHO developed this toolkit to present the competencies needed for these health services, to help set standards for education, training and performance.

A report co-produced by WHO and Women in Global Health, confirms that women health workers mostly have lower status, are paid less or often unpaid, and face gender bias and harassment. This work analysis uses recent health workforce data to provide robust estimates of female participation in the health workforce, occupational segregation by gender, and the gender pay gap.
