Initiatives to improve long-term care financing and coverage

Long-term care summaries

Overview

A rapid scoping review of publications (2017–2022) was undertaken to study the impact of public initiatives to improve long-term care (LTC) coverage, quality, financial protection and financial sustainability for older adults (age ≥ 60 years).  Of the 24 research reports included in the review, 15 were based in China, including Taiwan, China, three in the United States of America (USA), two in Singapore and one in Netherlands (Kingdom of the); the remaining three reports covered multiple countries. LTC funding models are evolving. Recent initiatives demonstrate that governments are recognizing the increasing demand and need for care of their ageing populations and are developing programmes to address this need.
